THE headless body of a commercial motorcyclist was found in front of Campus II of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.
The severed head of the victim was found some distance from his motorcycle by the road side.
It was, however, not clear whether it was a case of murder or ritual killing. Some witnesses claimed the victim was killed by a hit-and-run lorry, even as the Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Moses Bature, who confirmed the incident gave the name of the victim as Clement.
The Unit Commander, in a telephone interview, said the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary, but added that the cause of the death was yet to be ascertained. He said: “We did not see any vehicle in that place.
We cannot say whether it was a hit-and-run or any other thing. “People said they saw the headless body in the morning and called the police. It was the police that called us. The family came and identified the body.”
