The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Apo, Abuja, has convicted a fraudster, Abraham Adasah, who was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission....
Justice Peter Kekemeke found Adasah guilty of all the six counts bordering on conspiracy and forgery preferred against him with a fine of N100,000 on each count.
Adasah allegedly presented a false Diamond Bank statement to the British High Commission with a forged letter from one Hon. Ohenhen Nosakhare, purported to be the Chairman of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, with intent to cause the British High Commission to issue one Nosa Ericson a UK visa.
Adasah had earlier been arraigned on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 alongside Ericson.
The duo had pleaded not guilty.
However, on October 29, 2015, Adasah’s counsel, Olusoji Toki, informed the court that they had approached the prosecution for a plea bargain.
At the resumed sitting on Monday, Adasah said he entered into the plea bargain agreement voluntarily.
Kekemeke consequently convicted him.
The EFCC, however, commenced the trial against the first accused, Ericson.
