Nigerian Air Force establishes Special Forces command to fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian Air Force has created a Special Forces command in the military's continued quest to defeat the violent Islamist Group Boko Haram.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, disclosed this on Thursday while delivering a lecture titled: "Nigerian Air Force: Challenges and Future Perspectives", at the National Defence College, Abuja...

Abubakar did not give details of the new command, he, however, said it was part of the planned restructuring of NAF's operational command to conform with contemporary security demands in the country.

"The Air Force is not only fighting in the air, and therefore, whatever it is that we need to have to fulfill our mandate in the face of the present challenges is what we are working toward putting on the ground.
"We are establishing a new command known as the Special Forces Command as part of ongoing restructuring of our operations.

"The establishment of the Special Forces Command would facilitate the development of NAF's response capability in both internal and external security operations, as well as increase Nigeria's self-reliance in strategic security operations," he said.

He added that NAF had upgraded its combat units and established new ones to bolster its combat operations in the country.

He also announced the establishment of a Base Defence Coordination Centre which he said will become operational by the end of Jan. 2016.

"The Nigerian Air Force has taken some policy decisions to enhance our operational capabilities some of which include the upgrade of units and establishment of new ones.

"Among the upgraded units are the 305 helicopter group and 95 helicopter combat unit.

"The new ones include the establishment of the 89 Combat Group to be located in Bauchi to aid combat operations with air logistics in the North-East,'' he said.

Going forward, Mr. Abubakar said warfare in the Nigerian Air Force would be dictated by advancement in technology and appropriate manpower development.

NHS Psychiatrist in the UK sacked for recommending TB Joshua's Emmanuel TV to patient

A NHS psychiatrist in the UK Dr Julius Awakame, 50, has been sacked after he advised a patient to get help from TB Joshua's 24-hour church TV channel, Emmanuel TV because she might be possessed by demonic 'special forces'. ..

According to UK Daily Mail, Dr Julius recorded medical notes diagnosing the woman as having a history of 'satanic ritual abuse' and said her issues could not be addressed by regular treatment.
So instead he told her to watch Emmanuel TV, adding: 'neither psychiatry not psychology would be able to help because there are special forces at play.'

The woman - known as Patient A - claimed Awakame also told her to get 'nice holy water' before 'switching off' during the consultation at a health centre in Harwich, Essex.

When community psychiatric nurse Martin Rowe later quizzed Awkame whether she she was possessed, the medic replied: 'She may well be' and claimed she had been thrown out of her local church due to her condition.

The doctor's employment with the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust was terminated the following month.

Today Awkame - who has since returned to his native Ghana - faced being struck off after he was found guilty in his absence at a medical tribunal of a number of misconduct charges.

The consultation took place on January 23 2014 when Awakame was treating the vulnerable woman as an outpatient.

The hearing, in Manchester, was told he was made aware she had a 'Dissociative Identity' - a personality disorder - and a 'history of previous satanic ritual abuse' before making a record of it in his notes.

But Awakame, formerly of Ipswich, then told Patient A she had been 'initiated through satanic ritual' and wrote down a website address for her to access.

He told her the TV station was 'specifically targeted for people who experienced similar situations.'
And he said her problems 'could only be addressed by the church' before he wrote down the name and suggested she write a book about her experiences.

He also told Patient A he had watched the TV station and said there were 'many people who had similar problems' to her.
The patient further claimed Awakame told her to ask the church to send her some 'nice holy water' to help with her problems. She later spoke to Mr Rowe about the encounter and the nurse quizzed Awakame.
When the nurse told Awakame that Patient A thought she might be 'possessed' he replied: 'She may well be.'

The doctor also said he 'studied' the TV station 'for hours' and said the woman's church had recognised she was possessed and had thrown her out.
Speaking of her emotional state following the meeting, Patient A said: 'I had pretty much switched off after hearing Dr Awakame tell me that no psychiatrist or psychologist could help me as throughout my childhood my parents had told me that no one would believe me and no one would help me'.

Awakame was reported to a consultant psychiatrist at the Trust by Mr Rowe the day after the consultation.
Following an investigation he was subsequently sacked and referred to the General Medical Council.

Awakame, who worked in various hospitals in the NHS from 1997 to 2014, will be disciplined next month by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.
He is currently working as a lecturer in 'health informatics' in his home country where he graduated in medicine in 1993

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, is planning to build a watchtower in the city, which he recently declared a tourism zone.

The tower, according to the proprietor of La Campaigne Tropicana, Chief Wanle Adeboboye, is part of the monuments that the traditional ruler will soon unveil in Ife...

According to Adeboboye, the king wants to open up the city while building peace and harmony across Yorubaland and beyond.

He noted in a statement that that was part of the reason the Oba attended the Modakeke Day and, most recently, the 45th anniversary of the reign of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

A businessman, the Ooni who is the owner of Inagbe Resort, one of the few privately-run resorts located across Lagos waters.

Akinboboye said in the statement, “Oba Ogunwusi has, from the first day of assumption of office, not hidden his resolve to elevate the historical and abundant cultural wealth of his people by opening it to the world through massive investment in tourism-related projects, which are aimed at transforming Ife from a mere tourism attraction to a mega tourism destination.

“To this end, the Kabiyesi will declare Ife a tourism zone and start the development into a tourism destination of world class standard. He has concluded plans to build a N7.6bn Ife Grand Resort.”

According to the La Campagne boss, the glory of Ife is finally coming to light.

Revelations On Looting: You Can’t Take Up Sambo Dasuki and Leave Jonathan

$

Several high-profile Nigerians are facing charges as part of a drive against corruption but there are complaints by the opposition that the government is settling old political scores and flouting due process.

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to recoup the “mind-boggling” sums of public fund stolen under the previous administrations to fulfill his campaign pledge to Nigerians that he would end graft...

Now the government has revealed that just 55 people stole more than N1.3trillion between 2006 and 2013, thus leaving Nigeria in the lurch as the economy is struggling to survive.

But it is former national security advisor Sambo Dasuki who has become the key figure in the anti-corruption campaign. The former Army Colonel is accused of looting billions of dollars that were aimed at buying weapons and equipment for troops fighting Boko Haram Islamists.

Billions are alleged to have been diverted instead to members of Goodluck Jonathan’s PDP to fund his failed re-election campaign.

Dasuki was granted bail last month but has been kept in custody without access to his legal counsel as he awaits the start of three trials, his lawyer Joseph Daudu told a court in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dauda later claimed Buhari was reverting to his old autocratic habits from his days as military ruler.

“He (Buhari) emphasised he was a changed man, open to democratic principals. But interfering with the court system, trying to find your own rule of law, is not good,” he told AFP at his office.

“It makes the outcome suspect.”

But prosecutor Oladipo Okpeseyi denied any impropriety. “The federal government has obeyed every order made in respect of this case. We are not acting illegally in any way whatsoever.”

Buhari’s own comments about Dasuki and two other cases involving the pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu and the Shiite Muslim leader Ibrahim Zakzaky are very instructive.

He told reporters in December the men should be kept in custody because they had committed “atrocities” against the the people of Nigeria, and told the Judges to put Nigeria above individuals.

Buhari was voted into power in 2015 after vowing to stamp out corruption and usher in a new era.

And with the prosecution of Dasuki — a powerful member of Jonathan’s administration — the former head of state could yet be dragged into the case.

“The national security advisor will normally carry out the instructions of his president,” one of the lawyers representing Dasuki in court, Ahmed Raji, told AFP.

“You cannot talk about this matter without talking about President Jonathan.”

wow... Aftermath Of Ice Prince/GF Bashing On Toni Payne, 9ice Releases Statement To Defend Her

$

Few days ago Toni Payne got bashed on twitter and even trended for daring to support Ice Prince who defended his girlfriend who was rumoured to have cheated on him. A lot of people tweeted at Ms. Payne saying they were not surprised that she is backing Ice Prince because she is the queen of cheat. ...

A lot of unprintable names were used on her and just today, 22nd of January, her former partner, 9ice deemed it fit to address why Toni has been labelled a cheat.

Let me take you back to memory lane, 9ice released a controversial song shortly after breaking up with Toni Payne in 2010 titled 'Once Bitten, Twice Shy' and it made a lot of people believe the cheating lady in the song was his estrange wife, Toni Payne.

Almost at the same time, 9ice and Ruggedman had a beef and Toni became close to Rugged and a lot of people assumed Toni must have cheated with him, hence the label ‘she is a cheat’. Anyway 9ice who now gets along with her so well despite his new marriage says Toni never cheated and he won't stop until the rumour is put to rest. The statement after the cut.

"It has come to my attention that some people were up to some mischief harassing Toni Payne regarding an evil rumor that was spread years ago. I would like to use this opportunity to state categorically that the song Once Bitten Twice shy was not and can never be about Toni Payne. I have NEVER accused her or told anybody that she cheated on me because she DID NOT.

It did not happen and it was never an issue. Let me be very clear. Toni Payne NEVER cheated on me. Some marriages do not work for different reasons" says 9ice in the statement.

"Unfortunately I released my album at a very delicate time in our relationship and a song from the album was taken the wrong way and things were blown out of proportion due to my silence.

"I have apologized to her in person and she has accepted my apology. I have moved on to a fresh start and she has moved on too. I would appreciate if the general public do the same. "I would appreciate if people refrain from insulting her for something she is not guilty of" he further said.

In the statement 9ice strongly states that the controversial track is not about his ex-wife.

"Once again, the song Once Bitten Twice Shy was NEVER about TONI PAYNE. It was just a song. I wish I had come out sooner but I cannot change the past, I can only try and make amends for the future.

"It is a new dawn for us all and I hope this closes the topic permanently. If it does not, maybe it is best I release a song clarifying this issue for the 100th time because what started all this was a song and all my effort to clear that air via interviews have been futile.

I assure you, I will stop at nothing to make sure this evil rumor is put to sleep once and for all. Again It was never my intention to cause her pain. My apologies to everyone who was affected. God Bless!"

The Central Bank of Nigeria says the recently introduced N50 stamp duty for all deposit transactions will not be collected for Payments of salaries and wages as well as payments and deposits for self-to-self transactions whether inter or intra bank...

This clarification was made in a statement sent out by the Director Corporate communication of CBN, Mallam Ibrahim Mu'azu yesterday January 21st.

The management of the apex bank had on Monday January 19th sent out a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, "Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under theStamp Duties Act”, mandating it to collect N50 stamp duty for deposit transactions.

The N50 stamp duty is being introduced to help increase the tax revenue of the Federal government. Part of the statement released by the CBN Director of Corporate Communication's reads “The implementation of the Stamp Duty at this point in time emanated from a Federal High Court order that the CBN should direct deposit money banks under its supervision to commence the collection of the duty on behalf of the federal government.

Consequently, the money deposit banks have been directed to commence the collection of the duty. Banks are to collect the N50 stamp duty and remit same to the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) on behalf of the customer.

The N50 stamp duty is charged per transaction and NOT per volume. Hence, irrespective of the amount, the sum of N50 is to be charged provided such a transaction is N1,000 and above. There are however some exemptions and these include payments of salaries and wages, payments and deposits for self-to-self transactions whether inter or intra bank among others,’’ the statement said.

Photos: Court adjourns hearing on Dasuki's application to stop bail

Justice Baba Yusuf of the Federal High Court, Abuja today Friday Jan. 22nd adjourned the trial of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki till February 4...

The counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, told Justice Yusuf on Friday that an application had earlier been made by Mr. Dasuki through his clients for stay of proceedings in court.

He said his client was of the view that the application should be refused. He noted that the Administration of Criminal Justice Act stipulates that such cases be heard daily, and argued that while the judge could hear a motion from the defendants, as the case progresses, a prayer for stay of proceedings should not be allowed...

Mr. Dasuki’s counsel, Joseph Daudu, countered that the details in the said application should be strongly evaluated, as it contained an abuse of the rules of court. Dauda said he had been unable to reach his client since he was rearrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
He was only able to see his client after a long time, after a court order on Thursday demanded that Mr. Dasuki be produced in court. The counsels to the second, third, fourth defendants also said they had neither been served with the said application, nor with the counter affidavit, from the prosecution.

Justice Yusuf, therefore ruled that the matter could not be heard yet.
"Having heard all parties, I can say with all sense of notice that the matter cannot be heard today," he noted.

He said it was important to allow Mr. Dasuki go through the counter-affidavit and make his responses to the issues raised and directed that counsels to the other defendants be served with the motion on notice, as well as the counter affidavits, before the next date of hearing.

In a video which was shot in Cuiaba, Brazil, and uploaded to LiveLeak, a group of men were filmed cutting open a swollen Anaconda open.

One man cuts the skin and stomach lining and as soon as a big enough slit is made, he reaches inside and pulls out a brown pitbull. It is not known how the dog ended up as the large snake's last meal. See more photos after the cut...

The video of the pitbull's extraction emerged on LiveLeak, alongside the caption: "Big Pitbull was eaten by a bigger Anaconda."

Anacondas are known for tackling big meals. They can easily eat large mammals such as jaguars and deer. Giant anacondas have been recorded to grow up to a staggering 17 feet. It remains unclear whether the snake in the video died eating the pitbull, or for another reason.
